DJ / musician application deadline is June 19!
(unlike workshops, this really is a firm deadline!)
A list of confirmed acts will be posted shortly after that.
Thank you for your interest in playing at Summer Intention 2023. Submission deadline is June 19. For this event, Party Pod is looking for DJs who bring an intention to their sets. The ethos of the music for Summer Intention is technoshamanism. Traditional shamanism involves accessing the spirit world and leading community members through altered states of consciousness. Technoshamanism has similar goals but uses intentional electronic dance music, instead of the spirit world, to guide the dancers on a spiritual journey which connects them to their inner selves and the energies of their community. A technoshaman serves the community by reflecting the energy of the dance floor back to itself, building up that communal energy, instead of consuming it to feed their ego. A technoshaman's sets have a theme or message that they share with the community, as they go on a journey together. We are asking DJs to bring an intention to their music so that we can make this an event that inspires people with the energy of the music. DIY rituals are welcome; keep in mind that technoshamanism is about serving the community with our music and our energy.
Music timing is yet to be determined, but will likely be from approximately 7pm-1am. We will create a music schedule based on the DJs who apply, and there is room for almost any genre with a wide following that fits with our ethos. We’re asking psytrance DJs to keep the psy in the lower bpms (145 max) so that it’s comfortable for everyone for dancing. In the past, some people at Intention have been turned off by intense psytrance, but progressive psy received much more positive feedback. We may also have timeslots in the afternoon for downtempo music only. Otherwise, there will be catered playlists of downtempo in the afternoons for people who feel like dancing in the sun, so please send any downtempo mixes that you recommend (downloadable mixes would be fantastic).
Intention is a participant-driven, non-profit event, and everyone volunteers in some way. We keep our ticket prices as cheap as possible, but this means that we don't pay performers and you have to buy a ticket. Performing is considered a form of volunteering and is a substitute for doing volunteer shifts in the kitchen, at the door etc. The only exception is for performers who can only come to the event for the one day when they are doing their performance. If this situation applies to you, please send an email to party[at]intentiongathering[dot]org.
