Performers and organizers are not paid, and all participants share their labour and talent out of love for the community. We still need individuals to step into certain organizing roles. Bring your curiosity and join us as we create something truly special.

WORKSHOPS

Intention is an opportunity for individuals to share skills, magic and love with the community. Every attendee at Intention is invited to give a workshop, on whatever topic they desire.

For a list of confirmed workshops, click here

A big part of the culture of Intention is creating an environment where people can explore their self-expression! Workshops are a fantastic way to enrich your experience and discover new interests. Explore and laugh with your inner child, stimulate your mind with philosophical discourse, and prepare to move into a new decade with renewed energy.

***************
PASSION SHOWS

This is your chance to share your passions with a community of supportive and encouraging witnesses! Share a song? A dance? A theatre performance? Some comedy? We love it all! There are two shows, one that is kid-friendly... and the later XXX show, where anything goes!

ARTISAN MARKET

Our Artisan Market plans to be bustling with unique vendors from the community. These artisans will be bringing one of a kind pieces, handcrafted goodies, feathery goodness and costume pieces galore for your purchase. You’re sure to find a thing or two to compliment your costumes, fill your tummy or soothe your skin. So plan on bringing SOME CASH to spend on these wonderful creations!

****************
DECOR & ART INSTALLATIONS

Art & decor are at the very core of every festival. They create a fun landscape or visual candy for us to explore and appreciate. If you have the desire to share your art with the community, please contact decor[at]intentiongathering[dot]org .

****************
CO-CREATION

As part of our event co-creation, we are asking all participants to sign up for a shift to complete their registration. This may include welcoming people at the gate, helping with decor, cooking for your friends in the kitchen, being a calm presence at peer support, facilitating a game in the Kids' zone or helping to make sure we leave the venue as beautiful as it was when we arrived. You can choose which parts of the event you are stoked to support.

If you would like to shape the event in a bigger way, please email info[at]intentiongathering[dot]org for information on our planning meetings!

*******************
AND MORE

Everyone is encouraged to find their own way to connect into the festival flow and become involved in the daily life, music and general production of the event.

Intention is co-creative and participant-driven. It is an opportunity to work together with old friends and new faces to create a safe container for a rich exploration of music, art, self-expression and creativity. We are always looking for volunteers to help with organizing and creation. If you would like to be involved in the organization process, please contact the organizing team at info[at]intentiongathering[dot]org .

LOWER INCOME SUBSIDIES

Lower income subsidies are available - for details, see below, but we'd first like to explain the ticket price for those who need these subsidies. (For those who don't, Intention of course remains far cheaper than any similar event we're aware of providing food and accommodation, let alone a conventional holiday. If you are able, please consider donating some of what you'd save to the subsidy fund.  We can receive PayPal donations at the account intentioninfo[at]gmail[dot]com Other means of funds transfer available on request, contact info[at]intentiongathering[dot]org for details)

Last year’s 20th Anniversary Winter Intention was a big production, with higher production costs and corresponding raised ticket prices. Unfortunately, the venue that feeds and houses us for the five days have increased their (still uniquely low) cost per participant to $303. So we've had to keep prices the same even though we've cut our budget back to the bone - excluding the lower income subsidies, our budgeted spending on production per attendee is $15.64.

We can't get it lower than that, so when we say we have to keep the raised ticket prices, we mean that literally. The only way we can make them more affordable for those on lower incomes is if people donate to increase the amount of subsidy requests we can meet. If you're concerned that your friends won't be able to make it, and you are able, please donate to help them (see above for how).

If you'd like to request a lower income subsidy without which you wouldn't be able to attend, please do so when buying your ticket. There will be a field on the registration form to request a subsidy of up to $125. Please note that we may not be able to grant 100% of the requests, though we will attempt to.  In general all participants who request subsidy will receive the same percentage of what they requested.  We will send you back your approved amount after sales end.  If this amount is not enough that you can still afford the event (hopefully it will be), you'll still have 5 days to sell the full price ticket you paid for to someone else - based on past experience you'll very likely succeed, as more than enough people look for tickets after we close sales.

Parents, please be aware that youth tickets are already heavily subsidized below cost (the camp is charging us adult price for participants age 6 and over, but we are charging you half rate), so we cannot offer further subsidies for those tickets.

IMPORTANT ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We would like to acknowledge and bring attention to the fact that the land on which we gather (around Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast) is the traditional, unceded and illegally occupied territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Shishá7lh (Sechelt), and mi ce:p kʷətxʷiləm (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

We have tremendous gratitude for this land and everything that it provides, and invite awareness and consideration of how and why the people of the nation of Canada have access to all of its beauty and abundance. We always strive to leave no trace and to protect the land where we gather.

YAY WINTER INTENTION! ♥
